Sometimes there are moments in life when you just crave that one thing that can always make you feel better. I have a list of top ten feel good foods that I just get so excited about that I cannot even stand it.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and that is my philosophy for food. Most of the delicacies on my list are not something I indulge in all the time, therefore when I finally get a taste it is like a little piece of Heaven.

Here it goes
1. Banana Nut Bread: I am not talking about any run-of-the-mill Citgo bread, but the real, warm, homemade banana nut bread. However, not even the taste can compare with the smell.
2. A RaceTrac Slushie: After my freshman and sophomore year of having a RaceTrac gas station right down the road, I discovered it was an essential to have in my life. Any mixture of the flavors tastes so good, especially on a hot summer day.
3. Coldstone Creamery: More specifically the pre-made flavor Chocolate Devotion. A “like-it” size of brownies, chocolate chips and fudge all mixed into a heaping scoop of chocolate ice cream is a cure to anything that happens in your life.
4. A pepperoni pizza and a Ceasar salad from Sbarros, which can be found in almost any local mall.
5. Pizza Hut breadsticks: I am not a huge fan of Pizza Hut pizza or wings, but I will go out of my way to sit down, order a round of ten breadsticks, and not think twice about eating every last crumb.
6. Panera’s broccoli and cheddar soup.
7. Then newest addition to the list is Manny’s Early Bird Special: a perfect size steak with a baked potato, not to mention the endless salad bowl that comes out freezing cold. (I know budget has not been an issue, but you get all of this for under ten dollars.)
8. A cookie cake from Great Amercian Cookies: a holiday does not have to be the only reason to purchase a cookie cake, it is appropriate for any day of the week you please.
9. This one could be a tad bit controversial, but there is not a better meal to wake up to than a Fatboy’s breakfast.
10. Last but not least, McDonald’s french fries. I don’t feel like there is a need for an explanation.

If you ever have a day when you just need that one thing to look forward to or to be excited about, refer back to this list and savor every bite.

RIP Wallet

23Apr09

I am usually not a picky person by any means, with that being said, I have had the same wallet for years now and I just cannot seem to find a worthy enough replacement.

Every single holiday I usually receive a new wallet in hopes that it will replace my ragged old one, but I have taken every single one back which has resulted in gift card overload and that only makes me poor torn wallet have to struggle even harder to stay in one piece.

I was at dinner the other night and my friend pulled out her wallet to pay and it was the cutest thing I had ever seen. We talked about where she got it and she gave me the website.

One Happy Tree is the site that may have the solution to my dilemma, it lets you build your own wallet, choose the fabric, or order a pre-made one. The fabrics are perfect for what I have been looking for, I am hoping this is the answer to my prayers.

Holy matrimony

21Apr09

Weddings are a joyous event most of the time, however, some can be extremely long, boring, and uneventful. I attended a wedding of an acquaintance with my best friend in Kansas this summer that was everything but the previous adjectives.

I flew to Kansas to spend the summer with my best friend, so this wedding was just something for us to do, I had no idea how much fun it would be.

The bride was a girl I met a couple times before from all the random trips from Florida to Kansas. Her name is Kaela and she was a very fun and bubbly girl but I did not know she was capable of such a hilarious stunt. Kaela wanteda fun, upbeat wedding with a twist at the reception. Kaela and her new husband Steven choreogrpahed this dance to make their special day one-of-a-kind and I was there to videotape it all, (excuse the obnoxious howls in the background.)

Hello, Gossip!

15Apr09

The website I chose to review is People.com. I don’t think many people view it on a daily basis, but I do. The colors are very appealing and get anyone excited about gossip, even if they usually don’t like reading about celebrities.
The pictures I used for the previous post came from this website. There is usually only one or two advertisements and it does not look tacky, there aren’t any pop ups either which makes the site look presentable and professional.
Another aspect of the website I like is how it is organized, the top of the toolbar breaks the site up into eight different segments: Home, News, Photos, Styles, Games, Celebs, Video, and Archive. I have been visiting this sight since high school and it has changed as the times have. The “Home” button was not originally there and that was implemented to take on the same interface as MySpace and Facebook, it is just a familiar way to navigate through.
This website is helpful because it is updated all through the day, the stories change all the time. Nothing is ever deleted, which is also something I like about the website.
Best of all, the content stands out among any other celebrity website I have seen. If you want to get the scoop, I suggest PEOPLE!

I was thinking about high school superlatives and I remembered how lame they are. So, I decided to come up with my own for Hollywood. I’ll just do one per feature article.

The first superlative award is the Most Unlikely Couple award, and the winners are Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore:

Mandy Moore starred in films like “Saved” and “A Walk to Remember” but she also had one hit song titled “Candy.” I thought her music career was over until the alternative rocker Ryan Adams came into her life to give it a little boost.
Ryan Adams has had countless albums, but he doesn’t tour in the United States very often if at all. I am sure all of his fans are torn between being angry that he is off the market now, and at the same time happy that he will probably be touring in the country now.

I honestly do not understand what attracted them to each other, but I suppose I don’t need to. I have searched through all the major gossip sites and the only piece of evidence I can find is they met while Ryan Adams was helping Mandy work on her “music career,” if that is what I can call it.

The rumors began over a year ago, people started buzzing about Mandy and Ryan being seen together and possibly dating, but they denied all accusations. However, when they are seen like this, the rumors are hard to look the other way.

The couple wed early this year in a private ceremony in Savannah, Georgia, with one guest on each side. The vows were exchanged in a courthouse, parents of the couple were not present or any family members for that matter.

I can’t say I agree with this marriage because he is supposed to be my husband, however, I guess I can accept it for now.

Warner softball took two of the three games played in the opening conference series last weekend.

Cross-street rivals Webber International University made the trip Friday afternoon to play the Royals. The game quickly turned crucial when the Warriors scored early on in the first inning. After a homerun in the fourth by Royal Danielle Fennimore the score was tied at one. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Warner managed one more run to take the lead going in to the seventh inning. They held the Warriors and won the game with a final score 2-1.

Conference play has changed this year, instead of playing two games home and another two games away, it has changed to a three game series so that each team only has to travel once.

Saturday afternoon the Warriors were coming for revenge and got it with the victory over the Royals which had the series split going into the third and final game.

Webber took the lead  in the third inning, but that would be the last time they would score. Warner’s defense was perfect in keeping runners from scoring from second and third multiple times. Again in the bottom of the sixth inning, a Royal reached on an error and was hit in for the tying run. A hit advanced runners and on more error allowed the winning run for Warner to score. In the top of the seventh, the defense stayed strong, made three outs and the game was over.

Warner travels to St. Thomas this weekend as they plan to clench the number one spot in conference.

For a while now I have been thinking about my lack of knowledge about politics. It’s not that I don’t care about it, because I do, I just always have a tough time knowing what and who to believe. Usually when politics or elections are brought up I just sit back and listen, again, not because I do not care but because I have no idea what anyone is talking about. I always hear people tell lies  to win the election or this candidate is promoting a certain topic for some other underlying reason. I have asked several people for an unbiased description of what each candidate stood for, but I still never could get that from anyone. I am not blaming anyone, I applaud their strong views, as a matter of fact I applaud having a view period. I am stuck in this place of trying to become an adult,  finding my own beliefs, knowing what I want from my political leaders, and deciphering who is being truthful.

I have been trying to find a website that has all those things and I found a couple but I feel like I need to learn more before I can really understand some of the issues.

As I was racking my brain trying to think of what to write this article on, I quickly realized that it did not take me very long to open a jillion new tabs and randomly look at everything I could possibly think of. I got depressed because my blog was nonexistent, but then I had an epitome! This was the very thing I could write my article on. Here goes:

1. Log in to every single social network you are signed up for.

2. Check all the e-mail accounts you have.

3. Click the arrow that takes you to random blogs, this will waste at least ten minutes and is probably the best technological invention ever especially when it comes to wasting time.

4. Watch Dancing with the Stars, embarrassing I know.

5. Take the nail polish off your toes and reapply again.

6. Decided that you are hungry, even though you really aren’t and heat up some Ramen Noodles.

7. Last but not least: Online shopping! There is no better way to waste time and take a mind off homework than to shop and waste money on things that you have no business purchasing.

As the Warner University softball team was pulling onto Highway 27 all the girls were in high spirits and ready to play ball.
We got to Gainesville and stopped to eat at Olive Garden, which was delicious and much needed. After that meal was done, we were on the road again. The bus driver drove about ten miles an hour, so it ended up taking way longer than expected but we did make it.
We all woke up stoked to sweep Thomas University, however, the weather did not feel the same way. (In softball, for a game to be complete due to a rain-out, it has to be a complete five innings) Lo and behold, bottom of the fifth inning, rain is pouring down and lightning struck right behind by head. The umpire immediately threw his hands up and made us get off the field. The game did not count.
Wasted trip to Georgia.
The bad weather does not end there, it followed us to Jacksonville to play our first conference games against Edward Waters. The first game of the series was on Friday, we hustled, got on and off the field in between innings and worked hard to beat the rain. But, it came up to bite us in the butt again. This time it was the bottom of the fourth inning. We kept telling the umpires we wanted to keep playing even though it was raining so hard and we were all in puddles, finally he had to call time and we waited for 30 minutes. The field looked awful but the game had to go on, the final score was 8-0 and the game was ended early.
The games on Saturday went alot smoother, weather wise. We beat Edward Waters all three times. 3-0 in conference play is not a bad place to start.

How To: Stay entertained on a bus for hours upon hours
1. Make sure the iPod is fully charged and invest in a wall charger (when you finally reach a hotel destination) just in case a computer is not around, I have made that mistake many times.
2. Tens of thousands of DVDs are necessary for survival.
3. Two pillows and one extra-long blanket for the little space you do have, nothing more or it becomes too excessive, nothing less or you will be freezing.
4. An Internet-capable phone so you can do makeup WordPress blogs.
5. Sweatpants, sweatpants, and socks.
That’s all you’ll need to make your forever bus ride a tad bit more enjoyable.
